Take a leap towards success

THE LEAP OF FAITH

Remember when you were a child at the local swimming pool? You looked up at the high diving board with keen interest, but your mother stops you. “You’re too little to go up there. When you’re older.”

You wait patiently for the years to go by, for your time to climb those stairs. Each summer you watch as the bigger kids climb up. They stand right at the edge of the board and dive off like a swan into the pool.

The day you’re old enough you smile like the Cheshire cat. As you throw down your towel you watch your four year old brother climbing up to the top. Before you reach him he laughs and jumps off as if it means nothing.

You feel the anguish because he beat you to it.

As we grow older we learn to be cautious. It’s inherent behaviour that has taught us to feel safe. We climb up that corporate ladder - gradually. Making decisive and carefully considered decisions and actions towards career success. It’s here we may feel like we’re stuck or need a change.

Entrepreneurs find it hard to travel slowly or just be steady. The creativity is like a burst of energy that can’t be held back. Often this is met by the gate keeper of a company, because: ‘This is the way we’ve always done it.’ As you roll your eyes, you may be thinking “Then why did you hire me?”

THE HEART AND SOUL OF A COMPANY IS CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION

When we stop creativity, it stops real progress. Anyone who takes leap forward can tell you this.

Perhaps it’s time to take a leap and have faith. You never know where the free fall can lead you.

What’s one leap you have taken recently that has tickled you?
